June 2, 2013 Holidays

June 2, 2013 Holidays

  • Children's Awareness Memorial Day: A day set aside each year to remember all of America’s children who have died from violence. A day to bring flowers to the gravesite, have memorial services and spend time with or write a letter to a grieving parent or grandparent. A day to mourn and reach out with healing hands of love to those in need of support. Annually, the first Sunday in June. For info: Judith Natale, NCAC America-USA, PO Box 493703, Redding, CA 96049-3703. E-mail: childaware@aol.com.

  • National Bubba Day: National Bubba Day celebrates anyone named Bubba, whether it is their given name at birth or just a nickname. If you don’t currently have a Bubba in your life, use today to celebrate some famous Bubbas: Bubba from Forrest Gump or William “Bubba” Clinton.

  • National Cancer Survivors Day: National Cancer Survivors Day® is a CELEBRATION for those who have survived, an INSPIRATION for those recently diagnosed, a gathering of SUPPORT for families, and an OUTREACH to the community.

  • Yell "Fudge" at the Cobras in North America Day: Anywhere north of the Panama Canal.  In order to keep poisonous cobra snakes out of North America, all citizens are asked to go outdoors at noon local time and yell “fudge!”  Fudge makes cobras gag, and the mere mention of it makes them skeedaddle.

The Old Lunch Gang

Shontel, Brandi, Annie, Kinsley, Emma (left-right)
How long has it been 2 years since we graduated? and I believe it's been what... 4 years since all of us have gotten together? A bunch of my old friends got together for a girls night out last night. We shared lots of laughs, exchanged stories, brought back memories.. all in all it was a fun night. Just to think that 4 years ago we were sitting in Mr. Sullenbergers classroom eating lunch all together. It's funny how quickly time passes...all the sudden we are all grown up. Shontel is married and has a baby now, Brandi is married, Annie is getting married in two weeks, and Kinsley has almost graduated from college, and me well I'm still hanging in there going to college and starting my dental hygiene program in January :). It was fun with us all getting together again.

So why start a blog...or I guess re-start my blog ( I didn't even remember having one!) well us girls were sitting there at the table and Brandi and Annie started talking about theirs....so I was inspired!

Dodge ball anyone?!

Working at a call center has it's ups and downs. Don't get me wrong I absolutely love my job, for instance yesterday it was a really slow day at work. Apparently we were way over staffed and you would probably wait 2-3 Min. in between calls (it doesn't sound very long but for a call center it is) My supervisor sent out an email saying "the first eleven people to show up at my desk gets to go play some dodge ball" Seriously who would pass up the chance to go play dodge ball while getting payed for it? I for sure wouldn't, I got to spend an hour of my six hour shift. The only down part of going outside and playing dodge ball? Is when you get out....sit on the grass where there is a bunch of Cotton from the tree's, then your allergies act up for the rest of the day. All in all...It was worth it.

Seven Peaks

One of my favorite things to do in the summer is to go to seven peaks. The thing that makes it 10 x's better? Having a bunch of your nieces and nephews to go with you. Lazy river, wave pool, kiddy pool and racing down the slides was so much fun expecially with J's high pitched screams to make it complete.
